I have an office 365 subscription and I'm trying to make a 3D pie chart look a certain way. To do that, I need all of the options in the 3D menu to be working but most are grayed out and the rotation menu is missing altogether. None of the suggestions I've found through a Google search are current and none of them work. Would appreciate some help. Thanks so much!

Janet

The lighting option is not available

The 3D rotation menu is missing

I need these features to produce a chart like this one.

All Mac Office programs use Excel's charting engine.

You still can cut the chart then use Paste Special & select from several image file types. For charts, .png or .svg probably ar the better choices.

Enhanced Metafile [.emf] is not included [never has been on Macs]. Neither has its predecessor Windows Metafile [.wmf] nor its successor Enhanced Metafile+ [.emf+] because they are proprietary Microsoft/Windows file types which are not commonly used on Macs.

Some 3D effects are not available simply because they aren't provided for the type of chart. .. 3D options for pie charts are extremely limited.

    Hi

I've seen lots of videos on charts. Maybe I've seen the same one as you. Maybe not.

Is there any chance you can put a link to the video so that I can help you through this?

Meanwhile, here's a slide from my workshop on making charts. The kind of chart you want to make is frowned upon because the perspective can be misleading.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not sure I fully understand your feedback. I do realize the data comes from the numbers I've put into the
Excel sheet, but I'm trying to generate the chart in PowerPoint. According to a tutorial on YouTube one used to be able to generate a 2D pie chart in PP with the info from Excel. Then you could cut and special paste it into back into the slide as a "Picture Enhanced Metafile." But that's either no longer possible, or not possible in PP for Mac. That's where things started deviating from the tutorial. My question is why are some of the 3D options grayed out when I go into that menu? I'm sorry to be so computer illiterate, but I'm just not yet clear on what you're explaining.

    I appreciate your help.

    Three points to consider:

    1. Most importantly, Excel is not capable of producing the Style of pie chart shown in your message,
    2. Not all properties are available unless the file is saved in one of the current OOXML formats [e.g., .xlsx, .xltm]. The deprecated binary file types [e.g., .xls, .xlt] do not support most of the new charting engine, &
    3. Even in the current file format, not all properties are available for all types of chart.
