Shared mailbox support in iOS Mail app

Since October, support for IMAP on the iOS native Mail app has disappeared, and it is now impossible to add *shared mailboxes* to my primary account on iOS via Exchange. This has interrupted my workflow. Please can you reenable support for shared mailboxes on the iOS native Mail app? Thank you.

I have the same issue. Microsoft have taken something which was fully functional and totally f*cked it.

Outlook Mobil app I agree isn’t the answer.

It’s now so much of a b*llache I’m in the process of migrating 800+ mailboxes away from Microsoft365 to alternative hosting providers and downgrading the corresponding 365 subscriptions.

    I found the solution!

You have to set a password in admin center for a shared mailbox user. It's not the same user account as main mailbox user.

When you do this add shared mailbox in ios mail app as new exchange account. In my case that worked. Now I have 2 exchange accounts in mail app. Main and shared mailbox.

    Hi, David

At this moment, it's meaningfulness to choose a point for standing by.

Have you contacted the Apple's support? The reason why we asked you to contact their side since you're not using O365 applications.

And the product which design by Apple's team, so please give a attempt to figure out the reason the service is not available for accessing shared mailbox on the iOS application.

If they mentioned that it's a change from the protocol with Microsoft and Outlook, then we can refer you to the Microsoft Feedback portal.

If it's the change of the iOS Mail application, you should contact to iOS mail application.

Thanks for your time and your understanding would be highly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Alex.

    Hi, Alex.

This is always easiest way to send off to another company support team but the problem starts with Microsoft.

Microsoft turned off basic authentication on exchange online.

Now no one no matter what email client uses can't access shared mailbox (except of course by Outlook app).

Nevermind what client I use, could you please tell if it's possible to connect shared mailbox with IMAP right now or we are waiting to all vendors all over the world will adapt to new MS regulations and use OAuth2 for a shared mailboxes?

Please do not recommend me using Outlook mobile app. There are many reasons why not to use it. For me it is a ****, don't have many config options, it's slow, searching mails or contacts is a mess, hangs up many times. Sorry but there are many other mail clients better. Please let me know if you see any workaround of that situation. That's not the first time MS wants to make all people happier.

According to your description, the issue of your concern that your shared mailbox no longer available in iOS Mail App.

Since you're unavailable to use the shared mailbox in the iOS Mail application and the iOS Mail App is Apple's product that we cannot do much for you.

Please be kindly to contact Apple's support and see if they have better suggestions for you.

On the other hand, here's a workaround for you that you can download the Outlook for iOS app and Add a shared mailbox to Outlook mobile.

Hello, thank you for your reply, but the IT department at my employer told me that this is something that Microsoft needs to allow on iOS, not something that has to come from Apple. In other words, it’s Microsoft that has to allow shared mailboxes on iOS for Exchange accounts.

I have no idea who is right.

    Cheers,

    David
