Thanks for your interest and response.

My laptop shut down with a Microsoft statement stating a "trojan" may have accessed your pc

Over the top of Microsoft was "IT World" who after a lot of phone conversations,to the number stated and tweeking the LT, normal service was resumed with a payment of £250 for a three year firewall and regular checks and protections. They are based in London on 03300010924

Being an "OF" and very green I was concerned that I may have been taken

    Bill

    p.s everything is now "Google"

I can’t obviously be sure that this company is a fake however there are steps that you can do.

Are you based in the United Kingdom? I’m presuming you are with a BT contract.

The first option would be to register this with Action Fraud for them to investigate. I have attached the link below for you:-

    https://www.actionfraud.police.uk

The second option would be depending on how you paid, to have a conversation with your bank. If my memory serves me well, paying with a credit card you should be able to claim the money back however this isn’t guaranteed and your bank will be able to advise you further.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards

    Tim

Again my thanks for your help and advice

Having reported the scam to my bank, I accept that having been scammed and created the possible problem must live with it. My lack of knowledge, capability and ability in this field is zilch !

I now intend to find a PC expert who can visit, sort out what needs to happen, get my wife and my Ipads back to normal and get rid of the worry and stress

    thanks again

    Bill
