Sharepoint Site Group Calendar - Time Zones

Hi,

I have added a Group Calendar component into the web part of a Sharepoint Site. This is a calendar sourcing from an Office365 Group, that everyone has access to. This is for users across the country-- from Hawaii to the East Coast. And many of these Users are traveling, so they cannot lock in one personal time zone. In their respective Outlook calendars the Time Zone are showing appropriately for the Group. But in Sharepoint, everything seems to be tied to the regional settings of the Site-- Pacific Time.

I ultimately want to create a calendar in SharePoint with events and times, that will display the local time for each User. How can I configure the Group Calendar in the Sharepoint Site so times are set to the User's local time, or what other alternatives do I have to display events in Sharepoint for all Users to reference, that will display local times?

    Hello Gil,

I'm Diane, a Microsoft 365 Apps & Services MVP and I'll try to help you today.

I ultimately want to create a calendar in SharePoint with events and times, that will display the local time for each User. <<

As far as I know, this is only possible if the calendar syncs to Outlook - then it will use the local computer time. Sharepoint will use the time zone setting of the site, not of the local computer.

Not every user is going to spend time to go to

    1. Delve
    2. My Office Profile
    3. Update Your Profile
    4. How Can I Change my language and region settings
    5. Click Here...

    Etc.

That's just not going to happen. I can't corral 200 cats to spend time to do this.

And, no, the time zone displayed in Sharepoint is not synced to Outlook and Computer Time Zone settings. It seems to be locked to the Regional Settings of the Sharepoint Site-- despite that the fact this is a National Hub, and should not be locked as such.

I would just like a National Event Calendar option that I can publish in Sharepoint, that will reflect each User's local time zone. Is that something Microsoft offers?

Do the users have their time zone set in Delve / their Microsoft 365 account? They would need to change it as they travel - but it should be correct if synced to outlook and the computer time zone updates.

    Thank you Diane, for responding.

The calendar will only appear in the local time if the User opens the calendar in Outlook-- not if the User is viewing the Calendar in Sharepoint.

So, in this day-and-age of remote workers and national organizations, what Microsoft App is available for me that I can publish a public calendar in Sharepoint-- the intranet hub for everyone in my organization to view-- that reflects events in their local time zones?

    Thanks,

    Gil
