How do I open a .ONE file in Onenote on MAC? OR how do I open a .One file on Onenote online?

I went from a PC to a MAC and tried opening .one files saved to my onedrive on in my Onenote on MAC and it's not possible. I also tried opening the .one file in the online version of Onenote and that is not possible either. This .one file contains purchased templates and I now have no way of accessing it as I no longer have a PC. Does anyone have a workaround?

    Dear Twinkiestar,

Since you can both open the .one file and your online notebook in the OneNote application, you can then copy/move the pages/sections of the .one file to your online notebook, then sync your notebook. After that, you can open that online notebook in OneNote for Mac and view these templates.

Once I manage to open it on a desktop version of Onenote, how do I bring it back to the Onenote on my MAC?

    Dear Twinkiestar,

Good day! Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

For your query, as far as I know, to open and view the .one file, the only workaround is to use the OneNote application (previously called OneNote 2016) on Windows. If your friends/coworkers have installed OneNote on their sides, you can send these files to them. They should be able to view the pages/sections in OneNote. After that, you can also open your online notebook on their sides, then copy/move the local pages/sections to your notebook.

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,
