Turn off "helpful" popups in Office 365

I recently had to do a "complete" uninstall and re-install of Office 365.

Since doing that, certain popups are now appearing which I would like to get rid of. Not sure what they are called but here's a screenshot:

I'm not sure exactly what they are called, hence my inability to find the solution with a search. But I know they can be disabled, because they were not a problem before I did the wipe/re-install.

Thanks for any help.

Ron

    Hi RonRosenfeld ,

I'm Mukesh and I will be happy to help you out with your question.

This feature is called Screen tips . To get started, open a Microsoft Office app.

When it opens up click File > Options. When the Options menu opens, make sure to have the General tab on the left selected. Then under the “User Interface options” section click the dropdown menu next to “ScreenTip style.” Change it to “Don’t show ScreenTips.”

Make sure to click the OK button on the lower-right corner of the screen and ScreenTips will no longer display when you hover the mouse over a command or control.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions please let me know and I will be glad to help you out.

This suggestion doesn't work. I set this option to "Don't Show Screen Tips" in every Office 365 app (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook), and they still pop up. I would appreciate learning how to turn them off.

    Mukesh,

Unfortunately, with continued use, this option is not working.

    Here are some screen shots:

Set to not show screen tips

    Thanks, Mukesh,

That pointed me in the right direction, except I don't want to turn off ALL the screen tips, which that does. I selected the other option "Don't show feature descriptions in Screen tips". Hopefully that will do what I want, eliminate what I showed in my screen shot, but still enable the screen tips when floating the cursor over an icon in the menu ribbon.

Need information on how to delete/unsubscribe from an ongoing Microsoft 365 Ad that goes to my e-mail address.
