Hi, I used to have an icon for design ideas on the home tab of my powerpoint, however it has now disappeared. I am using powerpoint version - 16.64 (Microsoft 365 subscription) on my MacBook. I have looked at powerpoint preferences -> authoring and proofing tools -> ribbon and toolbar and it is still checked on there however doesn't show up still and I cannot use it.

Please could you advise me on how to get it back.

Thank you

    Dear Emily Bickerstaff,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

Based on my test result(I just tested from my side) and it seems i cannot meet the same behavior as like you described above.

Here are some settings/options, please refer and check:

1.First, Design Ideas are only available to Microsoft Office 365 subscribers(not in the perpetual license versions) and please make sure you have installed Office 365 subscription on your Mac OS.

2.Then please try go to PowerPoint Menu>Preferences>General> Make sure PowerPoint Designer is set on.

3.Also, you must also go to PowerPoint > Preferences > Privacy and be sure the box is checked to enable optional connected experiences.

4.Also, Sometimes the first time start PowerPoint after installing Office 365, the Design Ideas button isn't available. Restarting the app fixes the problem.

5.Have you ever installed any add-ins for PowerPoint? If so, please disable them then check if there is any difference.

If above all the setting are correct and the problem is still persist, then I suspect the component is corrupted somehow, in this scenario, you can go to the Applications folder In Finder and drag Microsoft PowerPoint .app to the trash. Then Restart your Mac Download this Install package Install package and use it to reinstall Microsoft PowerPoint (the version 16.64). Then, restart your Mac and test.

If above suggestion does not work, to narrow down your issue, please tell us more information below to let us help you:

    1. The version of Mac OS Find out which macOS your Mac is using

2.Can you recall when this behavior starts e.g., after Office update or Mac OS.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad

Same issue. I have a paid subscription and have successfully used it before, and now it's completely gone. Under "authoring and proofing tools," the design ideas option has completely disappeared.

I have the same issue. When I go to PowerPoint Menu>Preferences>General the Powerpoint Designer is NOT there. Please help!

I was able to find a work around for Design Ideas. I went to the Ribbon options and Design Ideas was listed as part of the Design Tab. But it did not show on my ribbon. So I added a new category to the Home Tab and Hit "+" to add the Design Ideas to that list. So I now have access to that tool again.

Best wishes to everyone wrestling with this,

    Michael

Strange as this sounds, after I tried everything and nothing worked, one day it reappeared. I have no idea why, and I hope it stays there!!
