So, I'm having the same problem. How in the world is the answer "Disable the protection" ? Which I totally did, and it's still killing my CPU. It respawns in about 10 seconds and murders my laptop!!!!

What is the next option for us to try?

I have the same problem as reported by others. The real-time protection cannot be disabled and I have to frequently "Force Quit" the process.

    macOS 13.0.1

Microsoft Defender versions in screenshot below.

Hi Prakash, I tried your suggestion and it didn't work.
āžœ ~ mdatp config real-time-protection --value disabled

    Configuration not updated

New setting value is the same as the current value This happens again

    This happens again.

currently the only thing I can do is reboot my laptop.

FYI, my macbook is indeed managed by my organization.

    Hello

I am Prakash and I will be glad to assist you today with your question.

If your device is not managed by your organization, real-time protection can be disabled using one of the following options:

From the user interface. Open Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on macOS and navigate to Manage settings.

    Or using below command

    mdatp config real-time-protection --value disabled
