Cannot close/uninstall OneDrive

I want to uninstall the OneDrive application from my MacBook, but cannot get it to fully close.

I have the whole Microsoft 265 suite downloaded, and it came with OneDrive. It was nice for a while but, I'd like to just use the web version.

I go to the cloud icon in the top right of my screen and click "quite one drive" Then the error message attached below pops up and re-pops up every time I hit cancel. I cannot get it to go away. I've reset it multiple times, and it happens again.

Because this error message will not go away, Finder will not let me delete the application.

What should I do?

    Dear Jcgaylor,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description shared, I would like to summarize the concern at your end i.e., you are using the OneDrive application on Mac and want to uninstall the OneDrive since you want to continue to use the OneDrive app only in the browser. However, when you try to quit OneDrive, you encounter an error message and when you try to uninstall from the finder, it won't allow you to do it.

If my understanding is correct, I would like you to try unlinking the OneDrive account first and see whether you can uninstall the OneDrive.

Click on the OneDrive in the Apple Menu bar> Help & Settings> Preferences> Account tab> Unlink the account> Restart the Mac> Go to the Finder> Applications> Right-click on Microsoft OneDrive> Move it to the trash bin.

If still not, please launch your Mac in safe mode and see whether you can uninstall the OneDrive app. Reference: Start Mac in the Safe Mode

If you still can't, please share a version of the OneDrive app. Click on the OneDrive in the Apple Menu bar> Help & Settings> Preferences> About tab.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator

    That did the trick.

Thank you so much for the information!
