Can't hear my recordings on PowerPoint

I have an external microphone on my Dell computer. I can dictate using MSWord and it writes just fine. I use Zoom and Google Meet with the microphone. My speakers work for both Zoom and Google Meet and for music.

I record my PP presentation but when I try to preview, there is no sound. The indicator moves telling me that there is sound on the slide, but I can't hear it.

This is SOOOO frustrating and aggravating. PLEASE help!!!

I've tried every step you gave me and still nothing works. My microphone is working fine for zoom and google meet, so I know it's NOT the microphone. I can see the indicator moving when I record in PowerPoint, but I cannot hear anything when I go into preview. I sent the PP to someone else, and they cannot hear my recording either...even though they can see the indicator that there is something that has been recorded.

I am using Windows 10 home version, and I have MS365...Any other suggestions?

    Hello,

Greetings for the day! I’m an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you and I'm glad to provide you information regarding the PowerPoint issue.

Step 1: Go to Troubleshoot tab in settings and then look for the Recording audio option on the right pane and click on it. Please refer Image 1.

Step 2: Enable Microphone Access in Privacy Settings Go to Settings -> Privacy & security -> Microphone and make sure audio recorder and PowerPoint has required access. Please refer image 2.

Step 3: Update Audio Drivers If you haven’t updated your sound drivers to the latest version yet, kindly update. Go to Search -> Device manager -> expand "Sound video & game controller" -> Right click on 'Microphones" and run the update. Please refer image 3.

Now please follow these steps to resolve the issue.

    1. Close all Office applications.
    2. Sign-out of your Office account.
    3. In the meantime, if your Office is not yet updated, kindly install the latest updates. Check the steps in this article: Install Office updates - https://support.microsoft.com/office/2ab296f3-7f03-43a2-8e50-46de917611c5?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us
    4. Do a safe reboot. You can start Safe Mode using the F8 key during start up.
    5. Start Office for Windows applications in Office Safe Mode

This method works for most Office versions on a Windows PC: • Find the shortcut icon for your Office application. • Press and hold the CTRL key and double-click the application shortcut. • Click Yes when a window appears asking if you want to start the application in Safe Mode.

Hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back if you have any questions.

Thanks, Ravikumar and Steve! YES...no images in the reply I received. I am trying to follow the instructions. I do have MS365, but this particular PP was created in PP 10 Home...does that make a difference?
