Selecting non-adjacent cells in Mac version of Excel

I'm trying to select non-adjacent cells in Excel by holding down the Control Key and selecting the cells but it does not work. Instead I get the same menu as with a left mouse-click. I have a Macbook Air M2 with Office 365 Personal. I've tried with both the Magic Mouse and Trackpad.

Use the Command key instead of the Control key.

Command+Click on a Mac is the equivalent of right+clicking to elicit a contextual menu.

Another method is to enter the cell references in the Name Box at the left end of the Formula Bar separating the cell references & ranges by a comma. E.g., to select cell a1 plus cells b3 through b9 plus cell c5 enter this exact string a1,b3:b9,c5 then press return.

The same can be done using the Edit< Find> Go To dialog.
