My Cursor Keeps Turning White in Microsoft Word Without Typing

My cursor keeps turning white in Microsoft Word 2016 (I bought lifetime access), even without typing. I already tried changing the cursor settings so that it wouldn't disappear when typing, but that didn't do anything. After a few seconds the text selection cursor will turn white, and, if I hover over dark text, I can see the cursor outline. This has been happening in multiple documents, so not an isolated incident.

This started after a Microsoft update which forced me to log back into my Microsoft account to use Word about a week or two ago. I've tried everything I can find on the internet, but no luck yet. It's very hard to get work done if I can't see my cursor in Word, so what do I need to do to fix this issue so I can get back to work?

    And for me, the issue is in every application. not just restricted to microsoft word.

    Have you modified the REG file? If it still does not work, you may try the methods in this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hN8LrGogzY

    Hi, I think I'm able to isolate the issue.

    The issue is only happening with integrated AMD GPU.

    I have Lenovo legion 5 pro with AMD CPU and nvidia GPU with a MUX switch.

    The cursor problem disappears completely when I switch the GPU to Nvidia.

    My, system details:

    Hi, guys. I have got a new, simple and complete solution from a sensor tech supporter of Lenovo. It works perfectly for me. The followings are the details.

    1. Open Notebook, and fill it in with the following Code, as shown in Figure:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm]

    "OverlayTestMode"=dword:00000005

    1. Save the file with the format”.reg“, the name is arbitrary, for example as FixCursorBug.
    2. Double-click the FixCursorBug.reg, and continue till new Infos are merged into the registry.
    3. Restart the OS.
    4. Test and enjoy it.

    As someone who isn't incredibly technical like this, could you please explain what each part of this does before I try testing it? I don't want to implement something without understanding it better (just in case something else goes wrong afterwards).

    I guess the problem is not only affecting the text cursor...

    In Microsoft Edge I had a map and when I hovered over it the cursor changed to the open hand where I could drag the map around.

    And there the hand was completely white, without the black boarder.

    So I think there is no problem with the color of the cursor, but the bug is, that sometimes the black border of the cursor is displayed white (or just not showing?).

    And with the text cursor (which is more or less just a border) the bug is more obvious.

    @Microsoft: PLS FIX THAT SH*T

    EDIT: In Microsoft Edge it is more or less reproducable by having multible tabs open and then changing the tab (by clicking on it) an then dragging the mouse to the adress bar. Sadly it is not really deterministic from what I can see

    I believe the beam_r mode helped a bit since it doesn't turn white i think , but it still is not great since this beam_r cursor has a white outline-stroke all around it which makes my work also a bit difficult.
