How can I do a batch conversion of files from .doc to .docx format without typing a script or using a third party application?

    You cannot do this without macros, which is why Greg and I developed add-ins to do some of the batch functions users may require, in both cases supplied as donationware i.e. If you find it useful, send a donation to the developer. It's a similar principle to tipping for good service, rather than freeloading.

    However as Word will happily open DOC format files, there is not a lot of point to the conversion, as suggested by Ron. You can always convert them as you use them.

    You can't, without a macro or a third-party application.

    These are free and work well.

    Hi Evy, I don't think there is any way to do that. Not sure why you would want or need to do a batch conversion.
