Why the repeated slow verification of office suite programs (Mac)?

Why do you have such a slow verification procedure on Mac for office suite programs? This is shockingly bad. It takes 5 mins or more each time, randomly, again and again. If you want to continuously verify, fine, but do it fast/instantaneously, and in the background. You stop the user's workflow for no justifiable reason (I open powerpoint, it verifies for 5+ mins; I open excel, it does the same, and I used both programs only YESTERDAY). We pay for your software and you treat us like dirt. My software is provided by a university so there is no need to keep verifying. Why do you do this???

I have 15GB free memory and maintain it around this level. Office updates are installed automatically (the settings applied to my machine by IT). I regularly restart my machine. This is not idiosyncratic to me, it is a widely commented on problem in Microsoft and apple forums, seemingly since 2020. But nothing changes, hence my frustration. e.g.

First, verification is required by Apple regardless of license type whenever software is installed or updated. However, what you're reporting is not the norm by any stretch of the imagination. The verification typically takes less than 2 seconds. If it's taking as long as you claim it indicates a local issue that needs to be resolved.

Launch Disk Utility & run First Aid on your HD. That may resolve the issue. If that doesn't improve things it would be best to contact the university's IT folks.

I have the exact same problem. I usually give up and use Pages which comes free with my Mac. But I'm paying for Microsoft. What is the problem with verification? It has always taken at least 2-5 minutes to run thru that verification process. Usually, I have to do this 2-3 times before the application actually opens. The point of Microsoft Office is productivity right?

Why bother using ChatGPT if it is simply going to repeat the formulaic answer that has already frustrated so many users? My Mac is completely up-to-date, running an authorized version of Microsoft 365, and yet the hang time over the last year has become so long it is completely unmanageable. If I can avoid using Microsoft, I turn to other software/apps every time due to this issue.

This also frustrates me. My computer is reasonably well powered (i5 + 16Gb memory), but the validation for Microsoft office takes forever (NB I do not time it). No other app on my computer hangs for so long when validating / installing updates. The idea that this is down to Apple, rather than Microsoft does not ring true.

NB note to forum organisers - why am I unable to tick "I have the same question"? Why has this query been closed?

I suspect that the IT folks will say that they have not done anything unusual. This issue is not idiosyncratic to me, it is a widely commented on problem in Microsoft and apple forums, seemingly since 2020. But nothing changes. e.g.
