How to use Styleref in word? It doesn't work accurately

Anonymous
2022-12-26T08:09:37+00:00

Example:

Page 1 (header shows Title 1 and Subtitle 1-->Subtitle 1 is belongs to title2)

Title 1

Page 2 (header shows Title 2 and Subtitle 1)

Title 2

Subtitle 1

Subtitle 2

Title 3

Subtitle 1

Problem

When I use Styleref to show Title and Subtitle, I don't want the page 1 shows subtitle 1, it is because the subtitle 1 is belongs to title 2. The subtitle 1 should be showed in the Page 2. How can I resolve the problem?

What I want is the following:

Page 1 (header shows Title 1)

Title 1

Page 2 (header shows Title 2 and Subtitle 1)

Title 2

Subtitle 1

Subtitle 2

Title 3

Subtitle 1

Besides, if I don't use the funtion of separate pages, how can I resolve the problema?

Or you could use a 'Different first page' layout...

If you don't want the Styleref field that refers to the Heading 2 styled text to appear on the first page, you will need to:

    1. Insert a Next Page Section Break between Pages 1 and 2
    2. Unlink the Header in Section 2 from that in Section 1
    3. Delete the StyleRef field taht refers to the Heading 2 styled text from the Heading in Section 1

    Hi,

I'm Sneha and I'd be happy to help you out with your question. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

To use the Styleref field in Microsoft Word to display the title and subtitle of a document, you can follow these steps:

    1. Place the cursor where you want to insert the title and subtitle information.
    2. On the "Insert" tab of the ribbon, click the "Quick Parts" button, then click "Field" to open the "Field" dialog box.
    3. In the "Field names" list, select "StyleRef".
    4. In the "Style name" box, enter the name of the style you want to display. For example, to display the title of the document, you could enter "Title". To display the subtitle, you could enter "Subtitle".
    5. Click "OK" to insert the Styleref field into the document.

With this field inserted, the title and subtitle of the document will be displayed wherever the field is placed. If you want to display the title and subtitle in the header or footer of the document, you can insert the field into the header or footer using the "Header & Footer" tab of the ribbon.

If you don't want the subtitle to be displayed on page 1, you can use a section break to separate the title and subtitle from the rest of the document. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Place the cursor at the end of the title on page 1.
    2. On the "Page Layout" tab of the ribbon, click the "Breaks" button, then click "Next Page" to insert a section break.
    3. On the "Home" tab of the ribbon, click the "Styles" button, then click "Subtitle" to apply the Subtitle style to the text.
    4. Repeat the process for any additional titles and subtitles you want to include in the document.

With the section breaks in place, the subtitle will not be displayed on page 1, and will only be displayed on page 2 and subsequent pages.
