I opened my presentation and every slide that I had pasted a screenshot (print screen / paste) onto now has a:

Red X "this image cannot be currently displayed"

There is also a Pop-Up Window that opens stating "PowerPoint Removed Unreadable Content in . . ." next line " you should review this presentation to determine whether any content was unexpectedly changed or removed"

This is the only file having this issue - it's an issue with 1 original file.

I have copied the file, and renamed the file and tried re-opening it with no luck.

I have tried to open it on another computer - no luck there either.

I am working on operating system Windows 10

Using my personal version of Office Professional Plus 2010

    PowerPoint 2010

    Hi,

I'm Sneha and I'd be happy to help you out with your question. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

The unreadable content issue in PowerPoint 2010 might be due to corruption of the presentation file. Here are some steps to try:

    1. Repair the presentation:
    • Open PowerPoint 2010 and go to File -> Open.
    • Select the presentation and click on the dropdown next to Open and select "Open and Repair".
    • If the repair fails, try the next steps.
    1. Try to recover the presentation:
    • Open PowerPoint 2010 and go to File -> Open.
    • Select the presentation and click on the dropdown next to Open and select "Recover Unsaved Presentations".
    • This will try to recover the unsaved version of the presentation.
    1. Open the presentation in a previous version of PowerPoint:
    • Open an earlier version of PowerPoint, such as PowerPoint 2007 or 2003.
    • Try to open the presentation in the earlier version.
    • If the presentation opens, try to save it as a new file.

If none of these steps work, it's possible that the presentation file is beyond repair and you may need to recreate it from scratch.

If you have any other questions or need assistance with anything, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here to help to the best of my ability.

    Hi Jay,

I am still working on this issue.

I have located all of the hidden and system files and extensions, however...

There are only 3 that start with p???. tmp where the ???? are numbers - none of these 3 files were created this year and nothing shows when I open them.

I did find a bunch of files labeled wct???? where the ???? are letters and numbers and they are in the correct date range, but I'm not sure if these "wct" type of files are correct or what is inside of them.

    Any thoughts or further directions?

    Just to note:

The 2010 PowerPoint file that I'm having this issue with is located on my computers desktop.

The original file (the one with the missing images) is not on a cloud and I was not working on it in a USB flash drive.

The original file was created, worked on, and is still on my desktop.

Thanks for your help, I look forward to hearing from you with any more direction.

That file is corrupt. You'll have to replace the pictures. The top 2 methods for corrupting Office documents are:

    • editing Office files while they are on a USB/flash drive, and
    • editing Office files while they are on an unsupported cloud service. Use OneDrive for cloud editing that supports Office files.

    Hi,

I am Jay Cee I'll do my best to help you get this sorted or direct you towards the solution needed.

You may perform the steps below to isolate the issue:

Set folder options so that you can see hidden and system files and extentions. Then look directory for a file named p????. tmp where ???? is a number.

Then right click on the file, rename it to myppt.ppt

answer yes to the warnings. Power Point should open your corrupted file.

Please don't hesitate to write back if required.

    Warm Regards, Jay Cee
