Cannot change row height

Excel 2016 using Page Layout view:

  1. Right-click on a row and select Row Height
  2. Replace the current value (0.26") with desired value: 0.3"
  3. Click OK
  4. Observe row height is not changed
  5. Right-click on the row and select Row Height
  6. Confirm Excel discarded user input and the value is still 0.26"
  7. Repeat ad infinitum

**** is going on here?

I can drag the row to my specific height and it accepts that change. I can also switch back to Normal view, enter the corresponding value in pixels (32) and that change is accepted.

But when I use the Page Layout view, the row height dialog no longer works? This is beyond ridiculous.

Actually, it's much worse that just not working. Try this:

    1. Open row height dialog
    2. Make no changes whatsoever
    3. Press OK
    4. Observe row height gets decreased by 0.02"
    5. Repeat as many times as you like, until the row is too small to select with the mouse cursor

Kind of hilarious. What a silly bug to send to production.

Well I'm glad I had the foresight to record a screen capture (video) which demonstrates this bug. But since you can't post video here I'll have to find somewhere else to upload and link back here.

Doesn't look like we're using the same version:

    Dear Patrick,

Thanks for your updates and kindness.

It seems that you are using Excel 2016. The screenshots provided above is the test result by using the Excel 365 application in our environment.

If you have Microsoft 365 applications in your environment, could you mind doing a test with the Excel 365 application and see if it is the issue only existing in Excel 2016 in your environment?

May I know whether the issue occurred suddenly? If yes, what did you do before the issue happened?

Thanks for your effort and time!

    Sincerely,

    Dear Patrick,

    Welcome to the forum here.

I did a test in our environment and it seems that I can't reproduce the issue.

May I know whether the issue occurred suddenly? If yes, what did you do before the issue happened?

If it is convenient, please open Excel>click on File>Account and upload a full screenshot of the Account page for our reference.

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

Thanks for your effort and time!

    Sincerely,

    Cliff | Microsoft Community Moderator
