Office 365 licensing options pros/cons

I use the Office 365 apps via a set of licenses at various places where I work part-time - mostly higher education. Currently, one of the licenses has Access which I don't use but I need it from time-to-time at the site. I'm thinking about getting my own license to be more current in Excel and Word (maybe Outlook and Notes). The sites are using Office 365/2019.

What are the implications pro/con of having my own license vs using others? For example, my Office 365 would be current on the updates of Excel, Word and Outlook but I wouldn't have Access and maybe some other things. Can I 'easily' flip back and forth?

The driving force for this is I need more space for OneDrive and there are other applications (MS and non-MS) that seamlessly integrate with Office 365. All the sites where I work have the same Office 365 version so there's no conflict (at least I don't know of any).

I use Android v13 on my cell phone with the Office apps. I would probably go with a personal license vs a small business but I'm open.

Currently, I'm on both Win10Home and Win10Pro (64bit; 16GB RAM, SSDs)

    Hi Hans

I'm Anna and I'd be happy to help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

The cons of using a work license isthat when you leave your work place you wont be able to access Microsoft 365 again, so some of the settings might be restricted to due organization policy. The pros of having a personal plan is that you can use up to 5 devices at a time without restrictions and you have the extra 1Tb of cloud storage as you have mentioned.

Access app is available but only on PC if you purchase either the Microsoft 365 home or family plan. Also, you can use but Microsoft 365 for work and personal on your PC if you want that.

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards,

    Anna
