Powerpoint Issues with embedded videos not playing in click sequence

I have been having issues with some of my presentations when I embed youtube videos into slides. For some slides, they work just as intended and have no issues with the video starting during the click sequence. However, for other parts of the presentation, after following the same procedure for embedding the video and enabling the animations to play in the click sequence, the video loads and pauses itself. It's seemingly random, but has not happened to any of my presentations until just a few weeks ago. Other videos in past presentations have all worked totally fine.

Thank you for the assistance

    Dear Daniel,

    Sorry for my late reply.

To repair Office, you can go to Apps and Features, find the Microsoft 365 product, select Modify to repair. According to your reply, the situation is likely caused by the presentation itself, not the PowerPoint application. I think you don't need to repair Office.

Since the situation is likely caused by the presentation itself, please share it with us. You can remove other slides and private information, then leave slides that reproduce the situation. After that, you can upload it to any online drive and share the file link with us.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Hey George!

Going in order of your post...

    1. Running the presentation in Safe mode still had the same issues as before.
    2. For the online repair, I am unable to find the Powerpoint app in the start menu, but attempted to open up Microsoft 365 Apps. I need to try getting in contact with my local system adminstrator to get the permissions to do that.
    3. Here is the account information:
    4. Playing it on the web app still caused the same issues, but I saw a new error when playing some of the videos - upon loading away from the title card image, the player said "Video unavailable. Watch on YouTube". I have not seen this before until pulling it up on the web app. Only a handful of the videos said this though. Even the ones that did not have that error come up were still unable to play.

    Thank you for the assistance!

    Daniel

    Dear Daniel,

Good day! Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

According to your description, since you mentioned the situation happened randomly, I would like to reconfirm if it happens to specific slides in this presentation. You can play the presentation multiple times for testing.

If the situation does happen randomly, please try the following suggestions to troubleshoot.

    1. Please try to set PowerPoint into Safe Mode, then open the presentation and check again.

Close PowerPoint first, press win + R, in the Run box, type powerpnt /safe, and click OK

    1. Please try to Repair Office and choose Online Repair. After that, open the file and check again.

If the above suggestions don't help, I would like to collect more information.

    1. Please provide your Office version.

Click File> Account, please take a full screenshot of the interface.

    1. What if you play the 'problematic' presentations in the PowerPoint web app (go to www.office.com, click the OneDrive icon, upload the presentations, then open them in the browser) or on other devices, does the situation happen again?

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    George | Microsoft Community Moderator
