How to create default text box

I am unable to create a default text box between sessions, only within one. I would like to create the default settings as transparent with 0" margins and Set Default does not work.

This has been an issue for years so definitely not something that can be fixed through restarts or anything like that. I'm looking for hacks. Maybe a macro? I'm getting tired of setting the settings every time.

The Set As Default Text Box command applies to the current file, which of course means that you can open your template for editing and define a default text box there. The setting will be transferred to future documents that you base on the template.

Alternatively, create a Building Block as Jay has already suggested.

Set up the text box the way you want it, and then save that as a building block (select the box, press Alt+F3, assign a name and a gallery (I recommend adding it to the Text Boxes gallery, where it will appear in the Insert > Text Box dropdown), and click OK.

You can insert it into any document by selecting it from the Text Box gallery, or you can type at least 4 characters of its name and press F3 to insert it.

Alternatively, you can add it to the AutoCorrect list by selecting it, going to File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options, and entering a name in the Replace box and selecting the Formatted Text option button, then clicking the Add button. Insert it in a document by typing its name followed by a space or Enter key.
