I have a word document with a cover page and a Table of Contents. At times I need to print only certain pages from the document, but each time I do this it also print the Cover Page and Table of Contents. Is there a way to print the selected pages with the Cover Page and Table of Contents print each time?

This document probably has multiple sections -- at least three, including one for the cover page and one for the table of contents, plus at least one for the rest of the document. If you don't see the section number for where the insertion point is, right-click a blank area of the status bar at the bottom of Word's window and click to put a check mark next to Section (near the top of the menu).

When you print a multi-section document, if you put only page numbers in the list of pages to print, Word will include the pages with those page numbers from every section. If you say to print page 1, for example, it will print page 1 from section 1, page 1 from section 2, page 1 from section 3, etc.

To limit which section's pages get printed, you have to enter the page numbers like this: p1s2 or p2s4-p7s4. The article https://wordmvp.com/FAQs/Formatting/PrintMultipleSections.htm has more examples.

There's currently a bug in Word that if you ask to print a page from the last section (or the whole last section), Word prints the like-numbered pages from all sections. We're waiting to hear from Microsoft about a fix.

To see which numbers you need to enter using the s#p# syntax, add the "Section" number and the "Formatted page number" to the status bar in Word, as Jay suggested. (Also, keep in mind that there is a bug which affects printing from the very last section in a document.)

Yes, I used custom print but was not aware of how printing sections works. I do not usually use sections and then print the documents. I have found the using, for example, p1s3-p22-s12 works, but have found I need to Print to pdf to make it work and then print the pdf. Not sure why, might just be me. I have also found that I have to follow the page numbers exactly as they appear on the display setting on the bottom of the screen. Thanks.
