Click File > Options > General and click to select the check box next to "Collapse the Microsoft Search box by default."

Note that you may also want to show the Quick Access Toolbar below the ribbon, which will move it away from the title bar and, in addition, will make room for a larger number of visible commands.

    Dear AriAbdul,

Greetings! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, you want to hide or remove the Search box from top of Word.

May I know if you refer to the Microsoft Search box, as shown below?

If yes, we're afraid it's not possible to completely hide the Search box, however, you may collapse it so that it will only show a magnifying glass icon on the right side of the top menu, as shown below.

If this is what you want, you can configure it by going to File>Options>General>User Interface options>check the box of Collapse the Microsoft Search box by default>click OK.

If our understanding of the scenario is different from yours, feel free to point it out.

At the same time, please also share some screenshot about the "search box", we will continue helping you.

Thanks for your time and cooperation! Hope you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Tina | Microsoft Community Moderator
