    Hello Jim A,

Thanks for contacting us, my name is Akande and i'm glad to help with your question.

To insert a division function between two cells in Excel, you can use the forward slash symbol (/) in a formula. Here are the steps:

    1. Click on the cell where you want to display the result of the division function.
    2. Type the equals sign (=) to start the formula.
    3. Click on the cell that contains the numerator (the number that will be divided).
    4. Type the forward slash (/) symbol.
    5. Click on the cell that contains the denominator (the number that will divide the numerator).
    6. Press Enter to complete the formula.

For example, if you want to divide the value in cell A1 by the value in cell B1, you can enter the formula "=A1/B1" in a different cell.

If you need to reference cells in a different worksheet, you can add the worksheet name before the cell references separated by an exclamation mark. For example, "=Sheet1! A1/Sheet2! B1".

I hope this helps, Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Kind Regards, Akande.

    Thanks Daniel

I had had not done this for a while. I thought I knew how but could not get it to work. I thought something must have changed in the program. The directions you gave me were exactly the same as I was doing. Every time I hit enter to get the result, the cell below highlighted, and the formula was all I could see. I went to a knew work sheet and it all works perfectly just as I remembered. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

    Jim
