Confused over OneNote , OneNote web and OneNote for Windows 10

I am getting confused. I thought we should all get used to OneNote in the desktop app because that is going to be the final OneNote when MS stop supporting OneNote for Windows 10 in 2025. But OneNote web has the same interface as OneNote for Windows10.

I prefer OneNote for Windows 10 user interface because I have quite a lot of section groups for each notebook. Visually I can see all my section groups easily on the left panels. Which one has Microsoft decided to keep? If it is OneNote desktop, then I will stop creating section groups for my future new notebooks.

    Dear Jenny Tan,

Greetings! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

As per your description, it seems like you want to know the version of OneNote that will be kept.

According to in this Microsoft official article What's the difference between the OneNote versions? - Microsoft Support It's recommended that you use OneNote because OneNote for Windows10 reaches end-of-support in October 2025. Therefore, OneNote seems will be kept.

If you prefer to see all sections on the left panels, you may view notebooks by using OneNote for the web.

And if you want to see sections on the left panels in OneNote, we sincerely recommend you vote for these similar ideas in OneNote feedback community:

Return Sections Groups and Pages to Left Hand Navigation (Remove tabs) · Community (microsoft.com)

Option to make OneNote appear more like OneNote for Windows 10 · Community (microsoft.com)

This would be the best way to let developers know your ideas and comments, help improve the product and make it better for you and others.

Thanks for your understanding! Hope you stay safe and healthy always.

    Sincerely,

    Tina | Microsoft Community Moderator

Yes, you are confused. What you want is also possible in OneNote from Office.
