MS Project Professional - Tasks not showing in task board but no filer set

Hi,

I have the following issue:

  • I created a project file w/ MS Project professional and copied-and-pasted some tasks from a similar project file.
  • Some of the pasted tasks do not show in any bucket within the Task Board view
  • No filters are set in Task Board view
  • Tasks not showing in Task Board view do show in Task Sheet view

Can some help me w/ letting the missing tasks show up in the task board?

Some context

  • I customized task board buckets and use the same buckets in all of my project files (Planning backlog, Activity backlog, Next, Ready to start, Started, Complete)
  • I use task boards for status review meetings.
  • I use Microsoft® Project® Online Desktop Client MSO (Version 2212 Build 16.0.15928.20196) 32-bit

Thanks

Gianfranco

    Gianfranco --

Apply the Task Sheet view and temporarily insert the Show on Board column. Set the values of the tasks in question to Yes and that should solve the problem. Hope this helps.

    Hi Dale,

    thanks for your suggestion.

It would not let me fix the issue per se, but gave a fundamental hint to do so.

The tasks already had field "Show on Board" set to "Yes".

I figured out there had to be a filed for the bucket they were assigned to, which I found to be "Board Status".

Once shown, I found the name of the bucket they were assigned to in the Project file I copied them from had a one-letter difference from the corresponding one in the receiving plan.

Hence, in the receiving plan they were assigned to no existing bucket, thus not shown in the board, though they were set to be.

    Dear Gianfranco,

Good day! Thank you for posting your query in our community.

Based on your description, you encountered some problems in MS Project. To help you better, could you please provide some information for me?

    1. If you paste the tasks to the normal task board instead of the customized task board, will the same problem happen?
    2. Please provide some screenshots of your problem for us.
    3. If possible, could you please send a sample file for us via OneDrive link so that we can test on our side?

    Appreciate your cooperation in advance.

    Sincerely,
