How to install Microsoft Office Picture Manager in Windows 11 - Sharepoint 2010 installer won't work.

So a long-standing recommendation from Microsoft, as can be seen all over the place, is for users who want to use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to install it from the freely-available Sharepoint 2010 installer.

And up until now, that always worked just fine. However...I just rebuilt a computer for which I had a Windows 10 license...and instead of installing any of my programs after the Win10 install, I decided to just push through to Win11 before installing anything.

The problem that I've now discovered is that the Sharepoint 2010 installer doesn't work on Windows 11. So...can't get Picture Manager installed. And granted that I've now gotten pretty much everything else installed, I can't see tearing it back down and restarting with Win10 in order to do that install before upgrading to Win11.

Anyone have any other ideas? Running the Sharepoint installer in compatibility mode doesn't do the trick either.

Whomever decided that the current photo app for Microsoft is superior to Microsoft Picture Manager either has no clue what they are talking about or they have been moved up to an office with a view because they have good hair. J/S!

Another user here. I've used Photo in Win 11. It is *far* inferior to Picture Manager IMO. It's not intuitive, it's clunky, I can't find what I want, it insistently points at OneDrive when I need to go to another source, and 50% of the time the Help function doesn't connect. I understand your business model -- you guys build your newer programs to drive business into your MS universe, while telling yourselves and us they are superior to what we had. There are literally millions of us out here who don't feel the same, and we have plenty of good reasons why. Please fix this.

The new Photo App in Windows 11 is inferior to Picture Manager and difficult to use. I have no idea why Picture Manager was removed. It offered features that are not included in the new Photos App.

Please make Picture Manager available for Windows 11.

Thanks Anna - I know this isn't your fault, but those other photo apps are just ridiculously inferior to Picture Manager.

Seems crazy that lots of programs I have that are considerably older than Sharepoint 2010 will install...and yet Sharepoint won't. And Microsoft wonders why people hate them...

yet another issue in the ever-increasing list of issues that have robbed me of valuable time when dealing with microsoft...and yet we're kind of stuck with it... Then to hear the b.s. from some of the "advisers" simply adds to the frustration.

Punchline, when something works fine for people, let's see what the response will be if we take it away. Pretty sure customer satisfaction isn't a high priority at microsoft.
