Word won't let me add a new picture bullet point

In the bullet menu, when I click on Define New Bullet, then on Picture, and get the Insert Pictures menu with the three options, nothing happens. It will not open any of the three options. I could not add a new bullet nor could I access any of the picture bullets I had previously installed. I uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft 365. That didn't work. I then tried it on my laptop at home. My IT administrator also tried it on his computer. The same thing happened on all of them. I did try Define New Bullet in PowerPoint and it worked fine, so it seems to be a glitch in Word.

I can now create a picture bullet point but it doesn’t add it to the library so I have to go through the whole process of creating it every time I want to use it again. Also, I tried to change the color of the bullet, following all their suggestions, but that didn’t work either.

You can save the picture bullet to a paragraph style for easy reuse.

I don't think that your second requirement can be met, though. The color of the picture will determine the color of the picture bullet. You'd have to edit the picture itself before turning it into a bullet point.

    Still an issue!!!!!

    Have you updated Office?

Here, choosing a picture bullet seems to be working now, in Word version 2405 for Windows. My Office version is a subscription, Microsoft 365 apps for business, running under Windows 11.

I searched for "flower" and was able to insert one of the search results as a picture bullet:

To add to what Suzanne has said, the Insert Pictures dialog box appears to be affected by this issue:

The same dialog box can be accessed from different places where you want to add a picture.

This seems to be part of the general problem that is affecting picture backgrounds and watermarks and signature images. The problem has been reported to Microsoft and is being investigated.

    Dear User,

Good Day! Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description shared, I would like to summarize your concern i.e., when you click on the menus in the Picture tab of Define New Bullet, none of the options seems to work.

If my understanding is correct, I have tested the behavior in the latest version of current and semi-annual channels where I can reproduce the problem at my end. So, I suggest you to report the behavior to the related development team via adding the feedback in the Word application. Open the Word document> Help> Feedback.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Sincerely,
