How can I edit a Microsoft Word document when there are technical issues?

I recently opened a document on Microsoft Word and needed to edit it for a college assignment. Unfortunately, there were constant technical issues which prevented me from working on it. Messages such as "Sorry, we ran into a problem" and "Sharepoint Online" showed up. May you please tell me what I need to do to get around this problem and edit my document?

Would I need to wait before the servers come back up to see if I can edit the document, or do I need to take action against this as soon as I can?

If you are able to find that the servers are down, then very likely people are aware of the issue and are busily trying to solve it. You are stuck, unfortunately, until the servers come back to life. Or, possibly, try contacting classmates who downloaded the document earlier. Perhaps they can forward a copy to you by email.

    Good luck!

I have no familiarity with the Sharepoint message. However, try an online repair of Office.

If it continues, contact the college's IT department.

I recently checked to see if the servers were down, and it turns out that the website called https://uapb365-my.sharepoint.com is down for everyone. Would I need to wait before the servers come back up to see if I can edit the document, or do I need to take action against this as soon as I can?
