Microsoft Project License and Microsoft Account

Hello!

I have a personal/family account with the Office 365. Now I'm starting to work as independent, so I need to start working as buisiness, mainly because I need Microsoft Project.

I wanted to buy Microsoft Project but for my surprise, Microsoft is asking me to generate a new account.

Why I cannot use same account that I've already registered? I guess it's because is a personal/family account, but, cannot "transform" this account from personal/family to business, in order to avoid changing my account info such email address, etc?

Thank you and BR.

Roy.

Hello Roy B,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I am a Microsoft user just like you, I hope you are doing well?

You cannot subscribe to Microsoft Project license with your personal account, you will need a business account to have Microsoft Project.

You can however switch from Microsoft 365 for home (Personal or Family) to a business subscription.

Below are steps to take to switch to Microsoft 365 Business:

Understanding the key differences between home and business plans.

Understanding when you might get a refund for remaining time on your original subscription.

Step 1: Buy a Microsoft 365 for business plan.

Step 2: Create user accounts.

Step 3: (Optional) Users migrate Outlook information to their new Microsoft 365 for business email account.

Step 4: (Optional) Users migrate their OneDrive files to OneDrive for Business

Step 5: Cancel your Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
