How do I highlight alternate rows in WORD table?

I have a table in WORD which I would like to highlight alternate rows for ease of readability.

Microsoft 365 and Office | Word | For home | Windows

    To add to what John has said, also ensure that "Banded Rows" is selected in the Table Style Options group on the Table Design tab on the ribbon.

    You can use a built-in table style that has alternate row banding. Look in the Table Design>Table Styles gallery where there are several such designs in the Grid Table and List Table sections.
