I have a spreadsheet where the amounts are in cents. I would like to convert the whole column to be in a dollar format. For example, 2000 cents is on the spreadsheet and I want a fast way to change it to $20.00. Instead of manually changing each one

Thank you for responding. I tried that, but for example it shows 500 and I want it to show 5.00, but it shows 500.00. How do you remove the extra 0s?

Hi. Your question is a little unclear. Do you want to keep the value the same, and just change the format, or just change the value?

Sounds like you just want to divide all the numbers by 100.

Place 100 in an empty cell. Copy it. Select your range of values in cents, right click, paste special.. Divide.

This will convert the values in place.

I was giving a spreadsheet and all the amounts are in cents. I want to covert the whole column easily into dollars. I need help editing the spreadsheet that was sent to me. I don't want to manually adjust each amount. The whole column has different amounts. I want the numbers to be how they are, but instead of in cents I want it in a dollars.

    See screen shot below.

Your amounts are in column C.

Answer you require’s in column D (formatted as previously indicated). Copy formula down column as required.

Formula in column D is shown in column E.

Click on the letter A (being column A for example) to highlight the whole column then:-

    CTRL + 1

     - to open the window called:-

    Format Cells

Format as per the image below:-
