We received an email stating that "The security defaults setting for your Company tenant will be turned on by May 8, 2023", how can we bypass this update that the multifactor authentication will not push through automatically?

You may disable security defaults in your directory:

    1. Sign in to the Azure portal as a security administrator, Conditional Access administrator, or global administrator.
    2. Browse to Azure Active Directory > Properties.
    3. Select Manage security defaults.
    4. Set Security defaults to Disabled (not recommended).
    5. Select Save.

Hi, I am still unclear as to whether or not this can be turned off....for any reason. We also received rthe email. However, requiring our users to use Authenticator is a problem for half the company.

I would like a strait answer. do we have the ability to turn off this feature?

We have a company where not everyone can access multifactor authentication.

MFA is disabled for everyone except employees in specific departments, however, in the past week, 3 users among the people with MFA disabled have been hounded to use the authentication app. It is neither practical nor desirable to apply MFA to every employee.

If we have MFA disabled, but it is attempting to turn on anyway, how are we supposed to prevent it from hassling end users?

We need to prevent the employees from having their work disrupted.

I got an email about this today. This is a massive problem for us. 2 factor is not needed, nor wanted.
