Hi all,

I am trying to enable the sensitivity bar to actually be shown by default - currently on a dev environment.

I followed the guide (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/information-protection/rms-client/clientv2-admin-guide-customizations#display-the-information-protection-bar-in-office-apps) and according to settings from my tenant, hidesensitivity is set to false but i still cannot see the mentioned bar.

Thank you George. I raised the request as the bar (or show bar option) are still not showing. Remaining issues indeed seem to be the fault of synchronization which takes far longer than 24h...

Anyway, thank you for your help, i really appreciate it.

    Hi Michal,

    Thanks for posting back.

Regarding your query, I searched all official documentation but didn't find anything that could affect the "Show Bar" feature. If you also can't view it on your side, please sign out all accounts in the Office applications, restart your device then check again. Also, please note that the sensitivity bar is another feature that can be found on the title bar of the app. You can view its feature name and its image in this article.

For "another issue with labels not getting synchronized", did you edit its name or other settings? Normally, it may take up to 24 hours to take effect.

For the last question, I also searched and tested on my side, but the conclusion and the result are opposite.

According to this article, the sensitivity labels are based on the primary Office account shown in the top right corner of the app. So, it should be changed when switching the account.

Based on my test, even if I signed out Account A, deactivated Office, then signed in Account B to activate Office, I could still see Account A's sensitivity labels.

Based on all of the above, to troubleshoot further, I would like to suggest you raise a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Support> New service request. That support team there will have the correct channel and resources to help you investigate more and find what exactly the reason has caused this situation.

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,

    Hi George.

Thank you for looking int this, i really appreciate your help. However i am afraid i still cannot see it - either in word online or locally installed app.

Also, i just noticed another issue with labels not getting synchronized.

Labels that are currently enabled on the tenant, are the ones that can be seen in word online.

The one underlined on the other screen is no longer present in the tenant and is present only in the word that is locally installed (also, just to be clear - i am showing examples only from word, but situation is the same for other apps from office suite).

    In other words:

    1. This is word, online version - correct labels but not sensitivity bar or show/hide bar option:

    1. This is word that i have installed on my laptop, and not only is the sensitivity bar along with the show/hide option missing, but also it is showing a label that is no longer defined for the tenant:

    1. These are labels that are currently defined for my dev tenant:

Putting aside the labels disconnect, are there any prerequisites for the sensitivity bar?

Could there by anything that is blocking it from appearing - like another type of setting that is colliding with what i have enabled with PowerShell cmdlet?

Also, another question that came to my mind - say you have couple accounts and you are switching between them in i.e. excel. If sensitivity bar is enabled for just one of them, will it appear as you switch the account? Or could the other account be blocking it from showing? I assume the behavior should be the same as with i.e. labels, so they should be changing as you change the account but i guess i would not mind having some confirmation :)

    Thank you in advance,

    Michał

    Hi Michal,

    Sorry for the late reply.

Based on my test, it works well on my side as shown in the below screenshot. Please click the Sensitivity button and check if you can see the ticked "Show Bar" option or not.

    ImageImage

If you can't see the ticked "Show Bar" option, please post back and let me know.

If you can see the ticked "Show Bar" option, but can't see the Sensitivity bar, I would like to suggest you try the following suggestion and check the related policy.

    1. Please reconfirm if the label policy has been applied to the right users/groups.

You can go to Microsoft Compliance Center> select the related policy> click "Edit policy" to check. Or you can run the following command to check if the username and group email address in the location fields are correct or not.

    Get-LabelPolicy -Identity "policyname"

    1. Please ask the related users to close Office applications, restart their devices, reopen the Office application (make sure the account is logged into Office via File> Account), then check again.

If you have checked the above point and restarted the device, but related users still can't see the Sensitivity bar, please post back and let me know.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
