Dear Guido Tauer,
Greetings! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.
As per your description, after you save a PowerPoint file as .pptm format, it no longer possible for multiple people to work on it at once, it seems like people cannot co-author in the PowerPoint file.
May I know if my understanding of the scenario is consistent with yours?
If yes, when we tested from our side, we reproduced similar situation as your described.
According to the information in this Microsoft official article Document collaboration and co-authoring - Microsoft Support****Co-authoring is only supported on modern file formats .pptx (PowerPoint).
Given this, we're afraid it's not available to co-author in PowerPoint file which is .pptm format. We do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.
Personally, I could understand your concern, and I completely agree that it would be definitely ideal if we could co-author with other people in a .pptm PowerPoint file. Thank you for bringing thing to our attention.
