How to create headings within a table of figures or table of tables?

Hi,

I'm writing a document that has a number of chapters, with each chapter having a number of figures and tables.

I've inserted a table of figures and a table of tables at the beginning of the document, but I want to be able to create headings within these to indicate chapters.

For example:

Table of Figures

Chapter One

Figure 1.1 Photo of a bird

Figure 1.2 Photo of a seal

Chapter Two

Figure 2.1 Multiple birds

Thanks

    Hi Charles,

My captions have chapter numbers included, I'm just wondering if there's a way to include the headings eg., Chapter One into the table of figures etc.?

    Thanks

So, add chapter numbering to your captions, assuming that your chapters carry automatic numbering.

    Insert a Caption

If you want this for existing captions, you can delete and recreate existing ones, or edit the Captions to include the StyleRef Field that pulls in the number.
