Horizontal line in Word 365 won't delete.

The horizontal line pictured below cannot be selected to delete. I have tried several suggestions found online, and none work. The most common suggestion was to click home tab, then paragraph and select "no border." Did not work. I can enter text above it and below it, but I can't gid rid of it.

If this is indeed a paragraph border, try the following: Add text below and above the line, and select all the text (at least three paragraphs). Display the Borders and Shading dialog box by clicking the arrow on the Border button in the Paragraph group on the Home tab. In the dialog box, click the "None" option. Okay. I selected a large block of text and copied it to a new file. The undeletable line was copied with it. Then I deleted the selected text from the original file. Then I copied the text from the new file back to the original file using the "keep text only" pasting option. The text copied without the line. So, it's gone! Thanks for the replies.

The line might be something other than a border.

As Charles suggested, sharing a representative sample document will help us diagnose the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've actually been to the link you provided just before I posted this problem. None of the suggestions worked. I tried your suggestion. but I can only select text above the line or below the line. I can't select both above and below the line at once, even when using the control key.
