my excel program has froze, I cannot click anything in the top ribbon, can't click on File, won't make any changes

for some reason I cannot "quit Microsoft excel". The top ribbon bar that shows File, Home, Insert, Page layout, etc. is not highlighted! I cannot X out, nor can I change pages. The curser does not show on the page.

    Sorry for the inconvenience. Does it happen to just Excel or other Office apps?

    First, Wait a few minutes and then try opening an Office app. Restart your computer and then try opening the app again.

    You can try repairing Office by following the steps below for guidance:

    1. Right-click the Start button in Windows, and select Apps and Features on the pop-up menu.
    2. Select the Microsoft Office product you want to repair, and select Modify.
    3. In the window How would you like to repair your Office Programs, select Online Repair > Repair to make sure everything gets fixed.
    4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the repair. And restart your computer.
