WHY do I get the error that says "No More Fonts May Be Applied"

I am speaking of new spreadsheets with nothing in them. with very few files open and I have a ton of hard drive space as well as a ton of memory space, 1T on both. There is no reason for this to happen and when it does, it is nearly impossible to get this error stopped.

WHY?

How do I resolve this issue?

    Hello Anna

Sorry - It did not solve the issue.

Appreciate your TIME and EFFORT given freely in ONENESS to the Excel, perhaps over 1000s of users stuck with frustrations like me, while MS has turned a blind EYE.

I had this problem for many years, None of the MS Support Agents have ever been able to solve the issue. Looks like CANCER in the Excel now freely migrated into Excel 365.

I tried other similar solutions available online-- SAME result.

I wonder MS ever want to correct this - issue.

It shows from the users seeking HELP that it has been there for some years.

Please see my responses shown as FROM TU:

Hi I'm AnnaThomas and I'd be happy to help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

"No More Fonts May Be Applied" error can occur when the number of fonts exceeds the limit set by the software. Excel has a limit of approximately 1,000 fonts that can be used in a single workbook. FROM TU: When this first occured today, I only had 16 workbooks open, Presently I only have 11 open. I have had far more than this with no issues. It might help you to know I have 1T of memory and one hard drive of 1TR plus an external drive of 1T plus cloud.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps: Remove any unnecessary fonts that are not being used in your spreadsheet. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Fonts and deleting any fonts that you don't need.

Consolidate multiple workbooks into a single workbook to reduce the number of fonts being used. If you have multiple workbooks open, each one will consume additional font resources, which can cause the error to occur. FROM TU: You just lost me. Above you said the limit is based on 1,000 fonts in a single workbook. So what if I have multiple workbooks, are they accumulative but as I said above showing what I have open presently and have had far more than this previously. In fact, I have not seen this error since I went to Windows 10 from XP where I saw the error frequently and I went to Windows 10 in 2016 and again, have not seen this error until today.

Use standard fonts instead of custom fonts wherever possible. Standard fonts are typically included with Excel, so they won't add to the overall font count. FROM TU: I very seldom use more than one font , normally it is Time New Roman.

Clear the font cache to resolve any issues related to font corruption. FROM TU: Sorry, I don't have a clue of how to do this. This is something I have never heard of previously so can you specify how it is done?

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards, AnnaThomas

Sure, clearing the font cache is a simple process. Here's how you can do it:

Close all open applications, including Microsoft Excel. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box. Type "services.msc" (without quotes) in the Run dialog box and press Enter. In the Services window, scroll down and find the "Windows Font Cache Service" option. Right-click on "Windows Font Cache Service" and select "Stop" from the context menu. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following folder: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService
You might need to show hidden files to see AppData AppData\Local Find and delete the "FontCache" folder. Restart your computer.

Once your computer has restarted, open Microsoft Excel and check if the font issue has been resolved.
