I am unable to set language for proofing and spellcheck in Word.

Every time I select English UK in the window below. A few seconds later it reverts back to English US

Is there any way to completely remove a language from Office so that it doesn't even show up in the Langauge window I below.

It can be seen that in the proofing and authoring section there is no English US option below. But it does keep coming up in the above window in MS Word.

I am hoping for a command line method to forcefully remove all traces of English US from my system.

Here is view of my system languages.

First check if the default proofing language is set correctly. Create a new, blank document and verify that you see the language you want.

Once the default language is correct, fix individual documents. Modify the language for the Normal style; this is a good start because Normal is the parent of most other styles in Word. Click in a Normal paragraph and press Ctrl+Shift+S to display the Apply Styles pane. Click Modify. In the Modify Style dialog box, click the Format drop down and choose Language. Specify UK English. Confirm with OK.

You may also have to select all the text and manually (re-)apply UK English using the Language dialog box.

To display the dialog box, click Review tab > Language group > Language > Set Proofing Language.

Choose "English (United Kingdom)" and click OK.

    Hi,

I'm Tim, an Independent Consultant here and a Microsoft user like you. I don't work for Microsoft and do not have access to any of your data on their system.

Can you confirm if you’re using the latest version of Office/Microsoft 365?

    Kind regards

    Tim
