Hi Edward B,
I’m Segunfunmi an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here in this forum.
If you've lost the dialogue boxes for naming a file and choosing the file format when you try to save a file in Microsoft Office, it's possible that the "Save As" dialog box has been minimized or hidden. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Look for the "Save As" dialog box: When you click "Save As" in Microsoft Office, the "Save As" dialog box should appear on the screen. However, it's possible that the dialog box has been minimized or hidden behind another window. Check your taskbar for the "Save As" dialog box, and try clicking on it to bring it back into view.
- Try using keyboard shortcuts: If the "Save As" dialog box is hidden, you can try using keyboard shortcuts to bring it back into view. Press "Alt" + "Tab" to cycle through your open windows, and look for the "Save As" dialog box. Alternatively, you can press "Ctrl" + "S" to bring up the "Save As" dialog box directly.
- Reset the Office settings: If the above steps do not work, you can try resetting the Office settings. To do this, close all Office applications, open the "Run" dialog box by pressing "Win" + "R", type "regedit" and press "Enter". In the Registry Editor, navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\General". Right-click on the "General" folder and select "Rename". Rename the folder to "General.old" and close the Registry Editor. Restart your computer and try using "Save As" in Microsoft Office again.
If these steps do not work, you may want to try repairing or reinstalling Microsoft Office.
Best Regards,
Segunfunmi
