When I go to print preview on MS Word, the caption numbers of tables and figures are not seen. Also, when I export the ms word document to pdf the same problem arises. What should I do to correct this. It will really help me. Advance thanks for your help.

Do you see the captions in the document preview at File > Print?

Check if captions could be formatted as hidden text, for some reason.

If you can't get it sorted, consider sharing a representative sample document with the forum, and someone here will take a closer look.

    Hi Mehraj K

I’m Segunfunmi an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here in this forum.

Update all fields in the document by pressing Ctrl + A and then F9. This should update the caption numbers and make them visible in print preview and when exported to PDF. If this doesn’t work, you could try checking if the issue exists in a specific document or also in a newly created document.

Check if the option to print field codes instead of their values is activated and if so, deactivate it. Another suggestion is to try printing the Word file with the Adobe PDF printer instead.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards segunfunmi
