I have Enabled AutoComplete for cell values and Automatically Flash Fill checked; however, as I work in my spreadsheet, nothing auto-fills. I have an annual membership account. I have unchecked, restarted, rechecked, and restarted Excel. Still does not work. Need help.

    Hi Ray S,

Thanks for contacting us, I understand you are having trouble with the AutoFill feature in Excel, here are some possible solutions you can try to fix this problem:

    • Make sure that the **Enable AutoComplete for cell values** and **Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop** options are checked in the Excel Options dialog box. To access these options, go to **File > Options > Advanced** and scroll down to the Editing Options section. If these options are already checked, try unchecking and rechecking them, and then restart Excel.
    • Make sure that the **Calculation mode** is set to **Automatic** in the Formulas tab. To access this option, go to **Formulas > Calculation Options > Automatic**. If the calculation mode is set to Manual, Excel may not update the values or formulas when you use AutoFill.
    • Make sure that the data you are trying to AutoFill is not filtered or sorted. AutoFill may not work properly if you apply a filter or sort order to your data, as it may skip some hidden or rearranged cells. To remove the filter or sort order, go to **Data > Filter** or **Data > Sort & Filter > Clear**.
    • Make sure that the worksheet you are working on is not protected. AutoFill may not work if the worksheet or workbook is locked or password-protected, as it may prevent you from editing or changing the cells. To unprotect the worksheet or workbook, go to **Review > Protect Sheet** or **Review > Protect Workbook** and enter the password if prompted.
    • Make sure that you provide enough information for Excel to recognize the pattern or sequence you want to AutoFill. For example, if you want to AutoFill a series of dates, you may need to enter at least two dates in adjacent cells before dragging the fill handle. If you want to AutoFill a custom list, you may need to create and edit the list in the Excel Options dialog box.

I hope these solutions help you use AutoFill successfully.

    Kind Regards, Sola.

To access autofill in Excel, you can follow these steps:

    1. Select the cell containing the data you want to use for autofill.
    2. Move the mouse cursor over the bottom-right corner of the selected cell until it changes to a small square.
    3. Click and drag the square down (for columns) or to the right (for rows) to autofill the adjacent cells with the pattern or data.

You should expect to see the adjacent cells filled with data following the pattern or sequence you established. Autofill is a powerful tool that saves time and improves efficiency when dealing with repetitive data entry tasks.

If you are using another Microsoft application or are encountering any specific issues with the autofill feature, please provide more details, and I'd be glad to assist you further.

    Best regards, Ivan

    Hi,

Can you show us a sample of the data and where you expect the autofill.

If there are too many rows autofill may not find a matching entry

If the entry is not "touching" the previously entered range autofill will not work.

    Thanks
