'Picture Transparency' does not appear in powerpoint

I'm using a standalone install:

Powerpoint Version 2306 (Build 16259.20154 Click-to-Run)

The 'picture transparency' option does not appear at all in any of the expected places in the UI after clicking 'Picture Format'

I'm not able to attach a screenshot because this page repeatedly gives me a 'failed to upload image' error.

Thanks for the screen shot. I should have asked earlier what version you are using. The Transparency feature was added to 2021 and 365, but does not exist in 2019. Here is Microsoft's page with a workaround method: Make a picture transparent

    Thanks John.

My previous response was in reference to the screenshot you posted. I can also confirm that I have tried both repairing and uninstalling/reinstalling Office, and the problem is still present.

I've included a screenshot, this time. As you can see, the image is selected, but 'Transparency' is not an option that is visible upper left or in the format picture pane to the right.

For additional context, I am running Windows 10 Pro.

Stve's referring to the Set Transparent Color command. Is that whet you're thinking of?

Or were you thinking of the Transparency dropdown?

They seem to have removed the old (simple) tool that let you choose a single color and make it transparent. The newer Background Removal tool is more complex to use but more flexible. It's worth learning how it works.
