Unable to login to Office 365 on Android Device

My organization has Office 365 for email. I've been using the mobile version first on my Samsung Galaxy S7, then my Iphone 8 Plus, and now I want to move to a Samsung Galaxy S22.

Our admin and I have been trying to configure it but are not having any luck. I can get to the OWA version but want to use the app.

After typing my email and password, I get the message that the phone needs to register. Then, I get an obscure error 1001.

Also, I'm unable to login to Teams on the device.

Again, this is on a new device. No one has used it prior. I am able to login on my older device. Also, I was able to successfully access my One Drive for Business app.

Any ideas?

TIA

    Hello Kai Ponte,

    Many thanks for your response.

Can I say that the device has now been allowed/added in the policy and all is good now?

    Best Regards,

    Ashraf

So, apparently, it was a group policy issue. The policy needed to allow this device to be able to access my profile. (I haven't been an Outlook admin since 1996, so am no longer familiar with the process.)

Thank you for replying. I have been attempting to get the screen shot but had issues since email is not working on the device. Here you go.

    Dear Kai Ponte1,

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having an issue logging into Office 365 on Android Device. Can you kindly let me know of the following in order to narrow down the issue. Thanks in advance.

    1. Do you have any Mobile Device Management solution in your O365 organization?
    2. Please share a screenshot of the error you are getting while trying to log into Outlook/Teams to look through further.

In the meantime, please check whether this or the old devices appear in Azure AD Admin portal against your account. This will however need admin permissions. You may reach out to your admin if you don't have the right permissions. Steps below.

    • Login to AAD admin center
    • Users-->All users-->Click to open your user account-->Devices.

Kindly note that this above requested information is required for further analysis and troubleshooting of your situation. Your patience and cooperation are much appreciated.

    Looking forward for your response.

    Best Regards,

    Ashraf
