    Hi,

I'm Taiwo and I'd be happy to help you with your question. In this Forum, We are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

The error code 0xE000002E indicates a synchronization issue. Here are some suggestions you can try to resolve the problem:

    1. Make sure you have the latest version of OneNote installed on your device. Updating the application can help fix bugs and known issues.
    2. Close OneNote completely and restart the application. If the issue persists, try restarting your computer or device as well.
    3. Clear OneNote cache, OneNote stores temporary files that can sometimes cause synchronization problems. Clearing the cache may help resolve the issue by doing the below steps:
    • Close OneNote completely.
    • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type "%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneNote" (without quotes) and press Enter.
    • In the folder that opens, you should see a folder with a name similar to "16.0" or "18.0" (depending on your OneNote version). Open that folder.
    • Delete all the files and folders inside the folder.
    • Restart OneNote and try syncing again.
    1. You can try repairing your Office installation. Open the Control Panel, go to "Programs" or "Programs and Features," find Microsoft Office in the list, and choose "Repair."

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards, Thank You.

    @Taiwo30

In the case of sync problems (what means unsynced data in the local cache) it's a really dumb idea to suggest deleting the cache.

And it's not much better to suggest deleting the one and only backup as you regularily prefer to do.

Before you continue with your snake oil suggestions you should learn how OneNote works.

That made things worse. All of my notebooks are now gone! How do I get them back?

The last updated file in OneNote online is 05/12/2023. The entire week from 05/15/2023 - 05/19/2023 is gone.

    I cannot believe this.

Do you work for Microsoft? No offense, but I'm afraid deleting the files as you directed me messed everything up. I opened OneNote everyday last week and started a new page. The next day when I opened up the notebook the pages were in there.

Today I go in and none of the pages from last week were in my notebook. I don't understand how this could happen.

Where are the files that were located in the folders I deleted per your instructions? Can those files be restored?
