Sharepoint List View will not Sort on Columns (There are less than 5000 items in the view)

I have a list that has a filter on it to reduce the items in the list. For some reason the sorting of columns doesn't work correctly. Within the same sharepoint list in a different view the sorting on the same columns works fine. I have gone through the settings of the view and changed it multiple times. Additionally, instead of items populating upon opening the list it makes me click the "load more items" button. Any tips and tricks would be appreciated.

It's not the number of items in a view, it's the number in the list. This is a hard limit Msft likes to downplay but If you go over 5k, most operations will fail.

Hi Sophia, thank you for the reply!

    1. There are only two items in the view I have questions about, so not near 5000. Additionally, the view doesn't load - it forces me to click "Load more items".

The main issue I see is that the view is not sorting on columns. I have attached screenshots of the view "My Open PM Cases" that doesn't sort that is only 2 items, and included the settings of the view. Additionally, I included a similar view that is much larger that does sort by column and works appropriately. I have included screenshots of the view and the settings.

    Hi,

    Good day!

To better understand your situation and help narrow down this issue, could you provide the information or screenshot below?

1, Could you please help check and confirm if it is around 5000 items in the view(for example, 4800-5000)? If yes, it's normal behavior in SharePoint online.

2, The screenshot of the situation you faced,

3, Does all users have this behavior?

    Have a nice day.

    Best regards,

    Sophia
