Microsoft Respects Your Privacy (Office for Mac)

Every time I open Microsoft Word (Excel, etc) on my MacBook Pro, a pop-up saying "microsoft respects your privacy" shows up. It totally locks me out of all Microsoft programs. It prompts me to go to preferences and click privacy. Preferences is not "bold" and not accessible.

The pop-up screen can't be minimized or closed. I have to "force quit" the microsoft application to get out of it.

Hi Linda M, I'm Femi and I'd be happy to help you with your question. I am sorry about this. The message is part of the license agreement and you should be able to click "Accept". If you can't see an Accept button because the dialog box is too large for your screen, try changing the screen resolution temporarily.

    Best Regards, Femi

I have this same problem. Anytime I open Word, Outlook, Excel etc. I get this pop up. I click through them to accept, but every time I restart those applications the same notice pops up and I have to accept all over again. It is annoying. Please advise.

thanks so much Femi for the suggestion to change the resolution!

    I was stuck!

I had switched he'd to larger resolution so I could see better and that's what choked the tab I needed to click off the page!

    Thanks again!!!

It turned out I was signed into office with two accounts. When I went to File > Office Account, the "User Information" section showed there was an issue that needed to be fixed. When I signed out of one of the accounts and signed in on the correct account it work perfect.

    No more pop-ups.

Check and see if you have the same problem perhaps.

Is this new behavior? Did something happen just prior to the behavior starting?

You don't say what version of Office is involved. To make sure your Office installation is current, take the following actions. After installing updates, test and let us know if this is still happening:

Download a copy of the current version of AutoUpdate from this link, install and then run AutoUpdate to bring your installation to current update level, then restart your Mac. If the updater does not open automatically after download, double-click the downloaded .pkg file. Click this link to download the updater. The update is free.
