I am using Microsoft 365 in MacBook Pro. I am trying to copy slides from one presentation to another and I find that the slides loose their formatting. I tried all the obvious options like dragging and dropping the slides from powerpoint to another etc. Specifically, there is no option for paste with formatting. It's a major frustration and I need an urgent help on it.

    Dear Sufiyan Challiwala,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft community. We are glad to help you.

Based on your description, may I know your MacOS version and Office version? Could you attach a screenshot of the paste option on your side?

To copy and paste the slides with formatting, please use Ctrl+click or right-click the thumbnail you want your copied slides to follow in the second presentation, click the Paste Options button that appears, and then click Keep Source Formatting. This implies that the slide will keep its original theme format.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! Have a great day.

    Sincerely,

    Sean | Microsoft Community Moderator

The problem is with incompatibilities in the templates that are the source of your presentations. Most third-party or homemade templates are not equipped to handle slide pasting as expected. Here are a couple of articles about setting up templates correctly for pasting slides from Microsoft default templates: Microsoft-Compatible PowerPoint Templates – Best Practices and for slides from old decks: Legacy Slides - Best Practices

When you're going to paste a slide, you can paste with the Keep Source Formatting option. This will copy over the slide master and all the layouts from the old presentation, which allows the pasted slide to maintain its original appearance.
