control + tab not switching to the successive excel workbooks

In a previous post about this exact topic, the answer talked about the 'Order' that control tab took between workbooks and completely missed the question.

When I click control tab, it toggles between two open files but will not go to the third or fourth file like it use to. I have three files open. File 1, File 2, File 3. If I work on file 2 and then click to select file 3. I can control tab back to file 2 but I cannot control tab twice or three times to get to file 1. It only switches between 2 and 3.

Try control + Shift + tab.

It could be bug that control + tab only switch the last two files. You may also Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app - Microsoft Support.

Thanks, that works for multiple files. That use to be to go the opposite direction of the last viewed. If I viewed file 1, then file 2, then file 3, Control shift tab would allow me to back up to file 2 where control tab would go to 1 (not anymore)
