In reference to my question it was my 1990 excel skills that lacked my ability to to traverse office 365 and following formula auditing. I personally think Excel is used for productivity not gui entertainment so what I could do in one keystroke now takes three or four irritates me but I learned how to get around it wasting more time.

As for external references in the formula auditing they never worked since office 97 all the way to office 2000 and 20s external references require a link to the spreadsheet you are trying to reference and some kind of offset with some visual basic programming skills you could manage that but then it would be unlikely that your spreadsheets would be dynamic you would have to continuously modify a variable offset in the process to make up for any kind of additions to your source spreadsheet and that is a little bit beyond my skill set.

But if anything the people who developed Office 365 can be asked since they put so many toots and whistles into their excel spreadsheets that a misstep by your finger on a touch screen can render your Excel spreadsheet a catastrophe every function shift control windows character can mess up your screen very badly.

Good luck I think you're binding off a great challenge hopping spreadsheets for external references could cripple your entire project I know I tried playing that game and it requires high level of Organization and God forbid you add a column or a row I see no feasible way of easily offsetting the reference pointer to that spreadsheet being referenced.

Neither can I find custom ribbons And why should I evaluate. formula was a integral part of Excel. I find it obscene. that Microsoft shuffles menus and then calls its new version of Excel an improvement. Is this what the future looks like where the program has wretched peak? So you need to shuffle the menu items to make it look like You did something. new

after Excel. 2003. A miracle program was invented that could take care of all spreadsheet needs the few additional steps and subscription was not worth it. Next time I'm just buying Excel. 2019 for 30 bucks and saying goodbye to Excel. 365. There is absolutely nothing I want or need. or find useful in hunting down simple answers

Three or four extra clicks per menu item does not improve a program too. clicks improves a program from 10 clicks. That is what makes a program better not more complications and wasting of time and hunting down answers. None of my windows 11 excel. and office issues are the same anymore. I need to hunt down answers every time an update occurs and update to a menu that's just ridiculous.

Someone tell me how to put on this stupid ribbons and then how to trace formulas. while I watch variables change. So I know what step is going wrong if possible in a simple array. not even multiple formulas Just a simple array. 3 Columns by 120 rows consecutive. for God's sake.

The only other solution I can suggest is to get a "proper" version of Excel. ;)

    Thanks for the quick reply.
Customize Ribbon does not display in my online version of Excel.
I have also checked for app Preferences but again it does not display.
The version is provided by my business, perhaps it has limited the number of functions that can be used.

You may find it from Customize Ribbon>All Commands.
